Debra Reid Jenkins
Debra Reid Jenkins has worked as a professional artist in both illustration and fine art for over 40 years and is still discovering new ideas.
Always fascinated with patterns and light in nature she finds the design possibilities a wonderful puzzle. Color and the abstract understructure of her subject matter are a couple of her absolute favorite aspects of the process of painting. She likens the ability to work in both abstract and realism as being similar to speaking in different languages. Her early admiration of Diebenkorn and Hokusai influence how she views the natural world. The paintings of Sargent and Sorolla are among her inspirations for how to handle brushwork. Curiosity is a major driving force behind her painting process.
Debra's artwork has been featured in many national publications including Fine Art Connoisseur, American Artist, and International Artist magazines, as well as books about the lakeshore. Her paintings also travel in museum exhibitions with the American Society of Marine Artists, of which she is a signature member. She is also a member of the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America, and American Women Artists.
Her work is available at Synchronicity Gallery, Glen Arbor, MI; Button Gallery, Douglas, MI; Eisele Gallery in Cincinnati, OH; Scott Bundy Gallery, Kennebunkport, ME; as well as other midwestern galleries.
