Jacklyn McIntee
Jacklyn McIntee, an artist in Grand Rapids, Michigan, paints urban and natural landscapes with oil. After retiring in 2019, she was searching for a creative outlet which turned into painting.
She joined a group of artists who meet weekly at the Franciscan Life Processing Center under the guidance of Kathleen Bechtel, art director. There she was given the tools and knowledge needed by first learning to draw before painting. She also attends workshops from artists she admires and paints with plein air painting groups in the West Michigan area. Jacklyn’s artwork has been accepted in juried art competitions and participated in various group art shows.
Whether painting in her home studio or plein air, her passion is to paint the ordinary. Looking more for abstract shapes of the sunlight and shadows rather than searching for the object. She wants to share her visual expression of the world around us that we quickly pass by without notice.
When she’s not painting, she enjoys hiking, biking and traveling with her husband. A lot of her inspiration comes from these adventures. Slowing down, observing the surroundings, and capturing the moment with camera and memory for a possible painting.
