Alla Prima Oil Painting with Cathy Dykstra

Join artist and teacher Cathy Dykstra to learn Alla Prima oil painting over a 6-week series of classes at Flat River Gallery & Framing!  

Alla Prima is an oil painting technique, also known as "wet-on-wet" or "direct painting," where the artist completes the entire painting in one sitting, or before the paint layers have a chance to dry. This approach emphasizes a lively, spontaneous feel with expressive brushstrokes, as wet paint is applied over other wet paint without waiting for it to dry between layers. The term "alla prima" is Italian for "at once," reflecting the method's emphasis on immediacy and capturing a moment.  

$390 per 6-week series. Materials are included. 
All classes are on Wednesdays at 1-4 pm January 7 - February 11. Limited to 7 students.
